The Belbeck Family has called this 50-acre piece of land—nestled between Guelph and Milton, Ontario—home since 1986.
While livestock have always been part of the landscape, Belbeck’s Family Farm as it exists today was established in 2015 by Kate and Ivan Belbeck and their three sons, Fletcher, Blaez, and Marrec—the fourth generation to grow up on the farm. It’s truly a family affair, with everyone pitching in to care for the animals, tend the gardens, and tackle farm projects together.
After years of experience in the commercial pig industry, Kate discovered her passion for Kunekune pigs. In 2017, after extensive research and a growing interest in heritage breed preservation, the first three Kunekunes arrived on the farm. Having previously raised both commercial and heritage pig breeds, the family was searching for one that was gentler on pastures, easier to manage, and more family-friendly—and the Kunekune proved to be a perfect fit.
Since then, the farm has grown to become one of Ontario’s largest registered Kunekune breeders, proudly registered with the American Kunekune Pig Society (AKKPS) and shipping pigs across Canada. We are AKKPS Lifetime Members and AKKPS Exclusive Breeders.
Once on the brink of extinction in the late 1970s, the Kunekune pig now thrives through our mission of “preservation through utilization.” Our registered pigs are ideal for small farms and homesteads looking for hardy, pasture-based livestock. With their compact size, docile temperament, and efficient grazing habits, Kunekunes are a versatile and sustainable choice for Canada’s diverse climates. We maintain a genetically diverse herd to meet a range of goals—and when you bring home a Belbeck’s Family Farm Kunekune pig, you become part of our extended farm family, with our full support every step of the way.
In 2021, we expanded our offerings to include pastured Kunekune pork—available by the whole or half hog—along with products such as summer sausage and pepperettes. To make full use of our pork-producing animals, we also developed a line of natural soaps and value-added products crafted from Kunekune lard.
While the Kunekunes are at the heart of our operation, we recently added a flock of registered Icelandic Sheep and they have completely stolen our hearts as well. Our farm is also home to a small herd of Scottish Highland and Mini Hereford cattle, as well as laying hens. Each season brings something new—from fresh garden vegetables to sweet maple syrup tapped from our own sugar maples every spring.
At Belbeck’s Family Farm, we’re proud to blend heritage, sustainability, and family tradition into everything we do.
